Our business is global. We are a company that provides a reliable, affordable and accessible energy source around the world. And in our local areas, we seek to operate in a socially responsible manner, engage the surrounding communities in a meaningful way and provide support where it’s needed most. We live and work in these communities — and we never lose sight of the powerful positive impact we can create there.

Cheniere Foundation

The Cheniere Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, complements our community investment strategy and aligns with community needs. Our charitable giving pillars are defined by the voices heard in the communities where we live and work. They’re defined by the voices of employees who are passionate about a cause. And they’re defined by the voices of our leaders who support, encourage and participate in our giving every step of the way.

Charitable Highlight (COVID-19)

In response to the unprecedented effects caused by COVID-19 around the globe, Cheniere donated more than $1,000,000 to organizations in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Washington D.C., the United Kingdom and China. These donations helped to reduce food insecurity and provided supplies and equipment for first responders and frontline healthcare workers. We continue to work with stakeholders at all levels to aid in the continued recovery of our communities.

Stakeholder engagement

We view strong community relations as essential to our business, and as a responsible corporate citizen, we work with our communities throughout all stages of a project lifecycle — from early development through permitting, construction and operation. In 2019, we made improvements to our social risk assessment process to better understand community needs. Our process includes a review of guidance from various international standards including the Equator Principles, the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the IFC Performance Standards.

Combined with our robust stakeholder engagement efforts, our strategic social investments support the well-being and long-term development of the communities in which we live and work. We listen to our communities, to our stakeholders and to experts who show us where we can create positive impact. We assess what we learn and tackle opportunities within the community in ways that create lasting and measurable change.

Employee Engagement: doubling donations, directing funds, donating time.

Cheniere’s matching gifts program matches employee contributions, dollar-for-dollar, for eligible 501(c)(3) organizations. Cheniere also has a payroll deduction program for employees to give and direct funds within communities where they live and work.
